Northwest Hospital Center Honored for Cultural Diversity
|
|
Northwest Hospital Center - received a cultural diversity award from the Baltimore County African American Cultural Festival and the Baltimore County Office of Fair Practices and Community Affairs. The hospital was honored during a banquet on September 5, 2002, at Martin's West in Baltimore.
Northwest was selected by the banquet committee for its practice of giving back to the Randallstown community, which includes members from different racial, religious and ethnic backgrounds, and for the diversity of the hospital's workforce. Requirements for the award include having a substantial number of women and minorities in senior-level positions and promoting diversity awareness through community outreach, including publications, sponsorships, training programs, mentoring programs and internships. The hospital's community involvement includes community fairs, health fairs, ethnic festivals and economic partnerships.
"I am very pleased the committee chose Northwest Hospital Center as one of this year's diversity awards recipients,” says Adrienne Jones, founder of the Baltimore County African American Cultural Festival and state delegate of the 10th legislative district, where Northwest is located. "The diverse community of Randallstown is most fortunate to have as its main employer Northwest Hospital Center, that gives so much for so many.”
In support of its commitment to the community, Northwest Hospital Center recently opened its new, state-of-the-art ER-7, which expanded its previous ER by 50 percent and features seven designated specialty care areas. Northwest is a member of LifeBridge Health, a regional health organization, which includes Sinai Hospital, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, Jewish Convalescent & Nursing Home, and related subsidiaries and affiliates.
