Northwest Hospital Center Salutes Nurses During Nurse's Week
|
|
Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown will be honoring its nurses during National Nurse's Week,
May 10 -14.
Over 700 of the hospital's employees are nurses or a part of the nursing staff and will be participating in events scheduled to celebrate Nurse's Week. These employees include registered nurses, certified nursing
assistants, licensed practical nurses,
unit clerks, nursing technicians and
patient companions.
Northwest Hospital's theme for Nurse's Week is Our Nursing Staff is Out of This World! Events for the week include seated massages, learning opportunities with breakfast and
lunchtime speakers, and an ice cream social. The highlight of the week is a breakfast where the Nurse of the Year and the Nursing Ancillary Staff Person of the Year will be announced.
"The role of our nurses and nursing staff in the delivery of health care is extremely vital," said Sue Jalbert, vice president of Nursing and Patient Care Services at Northwest
Hospital. "Nurse's Week provides a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate the spirit of nursing and acknowledge the superb efforts of our health care professionals."
Nurse's Week is one of the nation's largest health care events, recognizing nurses from coast to coast and educating the public about the significant work they perform.
Annually, National Nurse's Week begins on May 6, marked as RN Recognition Day, and ends on May 12,
the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession.
There are nearly 2.7 million registered nurses in the United States.
Northwest Hospital Center is a member of LifeBridge Health, a regional health organization that includes Sinai Hospital, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, Jewish Convalescent & Nursing Home, and
related subsidiaries and affiliates.
