Sinai Hospital recently received a generous donation from Mrs. Rose Lazinsky, naming the hospital's inpatient Neuroscience Center in her honor and in memory of her late husband. Officially named the Rose D. and Joseph W. Lazinsky Neuroscience Center, the 36-bed, all-private-room unit offers a full range of services for brain, spine and peripheral nervous system diseases.  The family was honored at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 21, 2007, held in the hospital's new South Tower. The Neuroscience Center is part of the LifeBridge Health Brain & Spine Institute.

"The entire Sinai Hospital community is grateful for Mrs. Lazinsky's contribution to one of Baltimore's preeminent centers focused on treating patients with disease of the brain and spine,” said Neil Meltzer, president and COO of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. "Her thoughtfulness is a true testament to how important the hospital is to the surrounding neighborhoods.”

The Rose D. and Joseph W. Lazinsky Neuroscience Center combines the hospital's recognized neurological services in a family-friendly environment. Each state-of-the-art patient room is equipped with a family zone, which includes comfortable chairs and a pull-out sofa bed, in addition to the patient care essentials. The Neuroscience Center also features a 12-bed specialized inpatient Spine Center, an expanded four-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and a 10-bed Joint Commission certified primary Stroke Center.

The LifeBridge Health Brain & Spine Institute is a one-of-its-kind consortium of specialists from Sinai Hospital and Northwest Hospital Center in neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and other subspecialties. The Institute offers a full range of services for brain, spine and peripheral nervous system diseases including sophisticated diagnostic techniques, state-of-the-art surgical modalities and comprehensive rehabilitation programs.
