Adult Hydrocephalus Center



The Adult Hydrocephalus Center at The Sandra and Malcolm Berman Brain & Spine Institute 
provides internationally recognized expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, long-term care, and management of adults with hydrocephalus. The goal of the center is to provide family-centered care because hydrocephalus affects not only the patient, but also the family.

The Adult Hydrocephalus Center specializes in:

  • Diagnosis, treatment, and management of adult-onset normal pressure hydrocephalus
  • Syndrome of hydrocephalus in young and middle-aged adults (SHYMA)
  • Hydrocephalus diagnosed in young and middle-aged adults
  • Management of shunt patients
  • Pediatric hydrocephalus patients transitioning into adulthood

The team of experts at the Adult Hydrocephalus Center is actively involved in research, patient/family education, and patient advocacy efforts to provide more funding for hydrocephalus research and treatment.
