Your Total Solution for Sleep Resolution
There are over 85 recognized sleep disorders that can rob a person of the deep, restorative sleep required for a good night’s rest.
Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, LifeBridge Health Sleep Centers provide four convenient locations where sleep studies are performed by physicians who are board certified in sleep medicine. We also offer home-based sleep studies that allow patients to sleep in their own beds.
During a sleep study, sleep patterns are monitored and evaluated by sleep medicine experts. These experts specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders for adults. State-of-the-art, computer-assisted devices monitor sleeping patterns
and levels of CPAP in therapeutic trials. Most patients are fully
rested and able to work the day following the sleep study.
Upon arrival at the Sleep Center, a technologist will explain the testing procedure and conduct a detailed sleep, wakefulness and neurological history. The patient then prepares for bed in the usual manner. Electrodes and sensors applied to the head, face and legs will show if the sleep pattern is disturbed, a sensor taped to the nose measures airflow from the nose and mouth to identify any breathing abnormalities, chest sensors monitor heart rate, rhythm and breathing effort, and a sensor attached to the finger monitors oxygen levels.
For purposes of the evening sleep study, patients are asked to turn off the lights between 10 and 11 p.m. Those patients who require moderate to low lighting while they sleep will find that their room has a night light and light dimmers to attain the appropriate amount of illumination.
A full follow-up report, including a comprehensive hypnogram chart of the quantity and quality of sleep and up to 25 channels of sleep monitoring with state-of-the-art equipment and software, is provided to the referring physician. Each study is videotaped, with audio recording and data collected by an attending polysomnographic technologist.
