Aesthetic eyelid and facial surgery: more options and greater expertise

If you’re considering cosmetic surgery to correct the appearance or function of your eyes, or perhaps looking for a way to reduce or eliminate some of the signs of facial aging without surgery, The Center for Advanced Aesthetic Eyelid and Facial Surgery at the Krieger Eye Institute at Quarry Lake is one of Baltimore’s premier cosmetic eye surgery centers. Techniques are more sophisticated than ever for treating everything from drooping eyelids, eyebrows, sagging eyelid skin, to improving skin texture and other signs of facial aging.

What is eyelid surgery?

Eyelid surgery encompasses a wide range of procedures. Many are directed at correcting drooping or sagging eyelids as well as eyelid puffiness and wrinkles. Lasers and other modern techniques are employed to correct these problems by removing excess skin and fat, and by tightening the muscles and tendons of the eyelid. In some cases, surgery can be performed from behind the eyelid leaving no visible scars. Eyelid surgery, performed in an outpatient setting, often takes less than one hour – with minimal discomfort and rapid healing.

What’s new in aesthetic eyelid surgery? – the Contour Threadlift and more…

Aesthetic eyelid surgery describes any surgical procedure designed to enhance someone’s appearance. Physicians who perform these kinds of procedures are called oculofacial surgeons. These days, the role of the oculofacial surgeon continues to be redefined. They now provide a full range of facial aesthetic services using a variety of treatments.

An upper or lower eyelid blepharoplasty, using the carbon dioxide laser (CO2), allows for precision skin cutting and sculpting of fat. The laser also may be used to resurface the skin of the eyelids and face to produce a younger, healthier, wrinkle-free appearance. Pain is mild, and side effects are limited in the hands of a well trained surgeon. Eyebrow surgery is performed to improve the position and contour of the eyebrows. There are a variety of options in eyebrow surgery, including the endoscopic eyebrow (forehead lift), internal eyebrow procedures, and the Contour Threadlift. The Contour Threadlift is also an exciting option for minimally invasive rejuvenation of the cheeks, jowls, and neck. Botox and Restylane injections are an increasingly popular way to reduce wrinkles around the eyes.
