Wounds can develop for various reasons. Among them are:

  • Diabetes, cancer and certain other diseases
  • Ulcers and bedsores
  • Animal and insect bites
  • Poor circulation
  • Chronic bone infections
  • Radiation tissue damage
  • Skin grafts
  • Crush injuries
  • Surgery or trauma
  • Fungus infections

Our Wound Center, located in the St. Francis Outpatient Center, provides a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment program to patients who have chronic, non-healing wounds. For each patient, a comprehensive, individualized care plan is created to effectively manage complex wounds that have not responded to conventional treatment. The care process continues until the wound is healed or stable. The referring physician will regularly be informed of patient progress.
