Adult Bereavement Support

Many grieving individuals find strength, healing and understanding through support groups. Carroll Hospice offers a selection of support groups for community members at no cost.

Though settings and formats vary, each group provides a safe, supportive atmosphere where participants can share experiences, coping strategies, emotions and information.

Bereavement Luncheon

This luncheon is open to adults grieving from the death of a loved one. No registration required. Meets the last Tuesday of each month at noon at Baugher's Restaurant, 289 W. Main St., Westminster.


Healing After a Substance Loss

Open to those who have experienced the death of a loved one related to substance use. The group addresses the unique emotional issues surrounding the loss and offers coping strategies. No registration required. Meets the first Tuesday of each month, 5 – 6:30 p.m., at Carroll Hospice.


Mending Hearts Support Group

A support group for parents who have lost a child of any age. Receive support and advice on managing the complex emotions involved with the death of a child. During sessions, attendees can share their experiences, participate in discussions and receive comfort in a warm and welcoming environment. No registration required. Meets the third Monday of each month, 6:30 – 8 p.m., at Carroll Hospice.


Pet Loss Support Group
An opportunity for those whose beloved pet has died to share their feelings in a supportive environment. Meets quarterly, 10:30 – noon.  Registration required. 

Remembering Our Parents Bereavement Workshop

This six-week workshop helps individuals work through the loss of one or both parents. Led by a bereavement counselor, attendees discuss ways of grieving, regaining a sense of stability, finding a new normal and self-care practices. The workshop is held quarterly, with daytime and evening sessions available. Registration required by calling 410-871-7229.


Widows and Widowers Support Group
This support group helps women and men address the emotional issues surrounding the loss of their spouse. Held the first Tuesday of each month, 6:30 – 8 p.m., at Carroll Hospice. No registration required.


Bereavement support groups are open to anyone in the community, regardless of where the death occurred.


If the weather is inclement, please follow the Carroll County Public Schools policy. If schools are closed, our groups are cancelled. If schools are two hours late or less, groups during the day will be cancelled. If afternoon activities are cancelled, groups in the evening will be cancelled.
