Know Your Health

We all have questions about our health. But with so much information out there, how can you tell the difference between fact and fiction?

The answer is simple: get an annual check-up with your primary care provider

•It’s the one tool that gives you an accurate, clear picture of your health.
•It’s your key to early detection, disease prevention and healthier living.
•Studies show that people who have a primary care physician have 33% lower health care costs and a 19% lower mortality rate than those who don't.

Does My Appointment Have to Be With a Primary Care Provider?
Yes, an annual check-up should be performed by your primary care provider. This provider should specialize in primary care, internal medicine or family medicine.
A primary care provider’s role is to evaluate and manage your total health. If you do need specialty care, he or she can help you find the right specialists, coordinate your care and collaborate with all your other providers to make sure you’re getting the safest and most effective treatment plan.

A primary care provider can include:
  •A physician
•A nurse practitioner
•A physician assistant
