If you have diabetes and are planning to conceive, Carroll Hospital strongly recommends preconception counseling to ensure a healthy pregnancy and baby. You’ll learn to establish good blood control during pregnancy and how to make essential diet, exercise and medication modifications.

Gestational Diabetes Management (Diabetes During Pregnancy)

Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that some women develop during pregnancy. While most women with this condition deliver healthy babies, careful monitoring is important. Patients referred for gestational diabetes are seen for an initial two-hour session, with follow-up sessions scheduled as needed. You’ll learn how to best control your diabetes and stay healthy through a combination of nutrition, exercise and regular glucose monitoring. When appropriate, we also assist with insulin injections and self-administration techniques.
