Cardiac Recovery

Carroll Hospital is pleased to offer three outpatient programs that can help you recover your heart health after you have had a heart attack, recovering from surgery or other heart conditions. For your convenience, these programs are located on the second floor of the East Pavilion at Carroll Hospital at 291 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157, featuring accessible parking.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Carroll Hospital’s outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is designed to improve the quality of life for patients who have a cardiovascular diagnosis or procedure such as myocardial infarction (heart attack), angioplasty or stent placement, coronary artery bypass graft, valve replacement or repair, stable angina and congestive heart failure or a heart transplant.

This program:
  • offers a monitored, individualized exercise program based on your health needs 2 to 3 times a week.
  • provides educational classes to assist you with modifying your individual risk factors (i.e. diabetes, hypertension, obesity, smoking, cholesterol levels and stress). A nutrition class, taught by a registered dietitian, also will be provided to help you learn about a heart-healthy diet. 
  • is supervised by a board-certified physician, specially trained cardiac nurses and an exercise specialist.
  • is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and meets the highest standards of care.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation


Carroll Hospital’s Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is designed to improve the quality of life for patients who have a lung disease or lung conditions, such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), emphysema, chronic bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis and those who have had or have a pending lung transplant. 

This program:

  • offers a monitored, individualized exercise program based on your health needs 2 to 3 times a week
  • provides a monthly face-to-face meeting with the pulmonologist
  • provides a nutrition class taught by a registered dietitian
  • is supervised by a board-certified physician, specially trained respiratory therapists, cardiac nurses and exercise specialists
  • is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and meets the highest standards of care
  • provides health education related to lung issues, breathing techniques and stress management
  • offers emotional support
