Jessica Richards, Ph.D.

Jessica Richards, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in pain management, sleep, and substance-use disorders. She received an undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), followed by master and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the University of Maryland College Park. Dr. Richards completed her predoctoral internship at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, where she received specialized training in the co-occurrence of sleep disorders and chronic pain.

Dr. Richards serves as a health psychologist in both the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Division of Neuropsychology, providing cognitive behavioral interventions that help patients to cope with painful conditions, improve their sleep, manage their stress, and improve their mood.

Dr. Richards has co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and has presented original research at professional conferences in the areas of sleep, addictive behavior, and pain. She is a member of the American Pain Society and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, for which she also serves on the programming committee for the annual scientific convention.
