Carleen Schwimmer, Psy.D.


Carleen Schwimmer, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in neuropsychology. In her clinic, she sees adult and geriatric patients with cognitive concerns, a variety of neurologic disorders, and other general medical conditions for comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations.

Dr. Schwimmer graduated with a bachelor’s degree in international affairs from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in political science from Emory University. She decided to switch her career path and attended the Georgia School of Professional Psychology in Atlanta, Georgia, earning a master’s degree in clinical psychology. She then attended the American School of Professional Psychology in Northern Virginia, where she earned a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, with a concentration in neuropsychology and health psychology. She completed a clinical psychology internship at the Bay Pines Veterans Affairs Healthcare System with a focus in neuropsychology, followed by a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at the War Related Illness and Injury Study Center of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Schwimmer’s research interests are in the areas of cognitive performance, health behaviors, depression, PTSD, and traumatic brain injury. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, Division 40 (Society for Clinical Neuropsychology), the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology, the National Academy of Neuropsychology, and the International Neuropsychological Society.
