Highlights

Resident Report � Resident report is held for residents and interns. Using an evidence-based medicine focus, residents discuss patient problems, recent literature, and review relevant topics. There is a teaching discussion on the Question of the Day� and a journal club. The Faculty and Chief Medical Residents lead these sessions.

Attending Rounds � are conducted daily on most services by distinguished clinicians chosen for their teaching abilities; includes bedside instruction.

Critical Care and Coronary Care Rounds � Daily rounds provide in-depth reviews of pathophysiology and patient management at the bedside. A full curriculum is provided during each rotation.

Daily Noon Conferences � Using innovative, state-of-the-art educational methodology, residents are exposed to a comprehensive core curriculum and read Harrison�s Textbook of Internal Medicine. There is ample opportunity to discuss topics with knowledgeable faculty. An urgent-emergent lecture series is given daily during the summer months to discuss critical and clinically relevant topics. An Issues in Medicine Series provides a full curriculum in the Business of Medicine, nutrition, risk management/performance improvement, research and ethics as well as provides a variety of basic science topics.

Evidence Based Medicine - All categorical interns take a one-month rotation that focuses on the science of clinical medicine. This includes Evidence Based Medicine, Performance Improvement, and Clinical Skills.

Medical Grand Rounds � A weekly conference by internationally renowned speakers discussing the most current controversies and discoveries in medicine.

Chief Rounds � provides an opportunity to discuss patient management at the bedside with the Physician-in-Chief and Chief Medical Residents.


The Morbidity and Mortality Conference and Clinical Pathological Conferences are held monthly and bring together the expertise of faculty of the Department of Medicine, Pathology, and Radiology for case review as necessary.
