PsychRehab at Levindale
The PsychRehab program is a coordinated program targeted to the chronically ill and mentally impaired geriatric patient requiring an average of 35-days of inpatient treatment on our 20-bed PsychRehab Unit. Our goal is to help patients reach their maximum functional level, and to live as independently as possible after discharge. PsychRehab combines the existing services of internal medicine, rehabilitation, and psychiatry in an integrated, focused program.
Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation
Since its inception in 1974, the rehabilitation program has helped thousands of individuals regain independence and, more importantly, the opportunity to return home to their lives in the community. Through its mission, Levindale's Rehabilitation department is committed to providing the special services needed to overcome the disabling effects of an accident or illness and to helping patients optimize their skills for independent living.
Levindale's 20-bed hospital unit is accredited by both the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and licensed by the State of Maryland. For more information, please call 410-601-2228.
Wound Care
Levindale's Wound Treatment Team has been providing guidance in the treatment of wounds for nursing home residents and Specialty Hospital patients since 1980. The team, working seven days a week, is led by a registered nurse and includes LPNs and certified geriatric nursing assistants. This team approach involves the patient, the caregivers/therapists, and health care providers. Examples of wounds typically treated include:
- Decubitus ulcers
- Surgical and post operative wounds
- Cancerous lesions.
Levindale's Wound Treatment Team assesses the condition of patients daily. Weekly rounds are made with physicians, and the team works under a physician and the nursing staff to ensure that every measure is taken for the patient's comfort and healing. The team also consults with wound specialists and specialty bed experts.
