Research/Scholarly Activities:  All residents must participate in a scholarly activity during their training.  Research projects may involve basic or clinical research, case reviews or epidemiological studies and the interests, needs and capabilities of individual residents regarding research vary widely.  Learning to do high quality basic or clinical research is difficult to accomplish within a residency program, however, there are several relevant objectives that every pediatric resident should aspire during their training.  These include: development of an appreciation for high quality research and the difficulties in its performance, education in basic concepts of research design and statistics, and to experience in an oral and written presentation of biomedical information.
