As you begin to consider options for your residency, the Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital Program in Internal Medicine should be at the top of your list.
We prepare new doctors for every aspect of a career in Internal Medicine, including primary care, subspecialties, academia and hospitalists. A hallmark of our program is the individualized attention given to each resident while he or she is exposed to a wide range of clinical services and educational opportunities.
Sinai Hospital, where the Internal Medicine core program is based, is the third largest teaching hospital in Maryland, and serves a diverse patient population from all socioeconomic groups. Its tertiary care programs enjoy a regional and national reputation for excellence, and members of the teaching faculty are distinguished leaders in their respective fields.
The programs three-year comprehensive curriculum ensures that all areas of general medicine and subspecialties are covered in the core lecture series, urgent/emergent lectures, issues in medicine series and subspecialty conferences. And, all conferences are led by Johns Hopkins faculty members.
We offer 12 one-year internship (preliminary year) positions prior to residencies in anesthesiology, ophthalmology, radiology, rehabilitation, neurology, dermatology, psychiatry and radiation oncology. We also offer 15 categorical Internal Medicine positions.
Im confident that youll want to visit Baltimore once you know more about our program.
Sincerely,
Steven R. Gambert, M.D.

Choosing the Johns Hopkins/Sinai Program in Internal Medicine was the right choice for me. Its a dynamic, comprehensive and supportive learning environment that truly puts residents first. From the program director, to the teaching attendings, to the residents themselves, one can visibly observe that Sinais program is one of camaraderie and shared responsibility. Each resident is given ample room to grow individually as a physician and as a professional. I truly feel that my education here at Sinai is a solid foundation from which I can confidently build on for the rest of my career.

This program [The Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital Internal Medicine residency program] combines the best of an academic center with a community hospital. The patient variety and the spectrum of pathology that we encounter as house staff are great. We also have the opportunity to work with world-renowned specialists to enrich our learning experience. Our faculty is a wonderful resource to use to get involved in research of any topic right from the start of internship.
The attending staff are all very approachable and always
willing to help, teach, and spend as much time as needed with both the patients and the house staff. I would highly recommend Sinai Hospital to anyone looking for both a supportive and educational program. It has been an amazing experience that I know will prepare me for my future career.

We started residency at JHU/Sinai as a couple. We were attracted to this program for many different reasons. It was just the right size program, not too large or small, the atmosphere was very collegial and friendly, and there was a good balance between a community and a university setting.
The program has an excellent reputation and offers its residents the opportunities they need to further their career and education. We are given the freedom to pursue electives of our choice right from the first year, either here or elsewhere.
The well organized teaching rounds, noon conference and board review
sessions maintain a high standard of education for the residents. You can rest assured that you have made the right choice if you choose this program. |

I chose the Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital Program in Internal Medicine because it was the perfect combination of an
academic medical center and a community hospital. The academic teaching programs, daily conferences, and journal reviews are phenomenal. Residents are given the freedom to spend time completing research projects and other scholarly activities beginning as early as their internship. Most importantly, the faculty here are knowledgeable, approachable, and always teaching the house staff.
While Sinai has all the advantages of a major academic center, it has the feel of a community hospital. The faculty, nurses, and administrative staff know all of the residents by name, and genuinely care about our well-being. In fact, the program often feels like more of a big family rather than just a job.
I considered many other programs for internship, but when I thought about all of the advantages of the Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital Program in Internal Medicine, the decision was very easy. I have been incredibly happy here, and I would absolutely recommend this program to any applicant.
