Gynecology Surgery
Gynecologists at
Northwest Hospital practice advanced techniques in gynecological surgery.
Many procedures such as hysterectomy, removal of fibroids, tubal pregnancies, sterilizations and pelvic reconstruction are being performed less invasively at Northwest Hospital Center. The result is quicker recovery and less pain. When surgery may be the only answer, these treatment options help you go home to your family more quickly.
Laparoscopic GYN Surgery
This procedure has set new standards for patient care because it allows surgeons to perform procedures without the trauma and pain of a large incision. Instead, a narrow telescope-like instrument is inserted through a small incision in the navel, which allows the surgeon to clearly and closely view reproductive and other organs via a video monitor. Other specially designed surgical instruments are inserted through two or three very small abdominal incisions, which only require a stitch or two following the completion of the procedure.
Bone Health Program
Osteoporosis is a disease that affects the quantity and quality of your bones. It is a debilitating condition in which bones become fragile and much easier to break. Although there can be outward signs such as a forward curving of the neck and spine or a decrease in height, someone suffering from osteoporosis usually has no symptoms until a break occurs. The Bone Health program offers Bone Densitometry, a non-invasive technology that is used to measure bone mass. Bone mass is the weight of your skeleton. Measuring the bone mass in your spine, hips and arms is important because these areas are most likely to break when your bone mass is weak.
After the age of 30, women should talk to their health care professionals about osteoporosis. Older women should be particularly concerned, as estrogen deficiency has been identified as a significant cause of accelerated bone loss in women during and after menopause.
