The Department of Medicine provides comprehensive consultative, inpatient and outpatient medical services. Its divisions include Cardiology, Endocrinology, General Medicine, Gastroenterology, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Oncology, Rheumatology, Hematology, Geriatrics and Pulmonary/Critical Care.
The Department of Medicine is distinguished by its large teaching faculty, training/medical education program and clinical program. The faculty consists of more than 300 attending physicians who actively participate in the teaching program. The caliber of the faculty is evidenced by the numerous appointments of many of its physicians to the faculties of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
