The Sinai surgical residents will rotate in
the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the Rubin Institute for
Advanced Orthopedics at Sinai Hospital during their intern year for four to six weeks. The
rotation is designed to expose the resident in particular to the important
areas of trauma orthopedics and orthopedic oncology. However, the schedule is flexible, so that the
resident may investigate other areas, i.e. joint and
spine surgery. The surgical residents will participate in all care rendered
to inpatient Orthopedic Surgery patients at Sinai Hospital:
admission, diagnostic workup, operations, post-operative care and discharge. In
addition, the surgical residents will participate in the care/operations
of Orthopedic Surgery patients in the Orthopedic Surgery clinic
and Orthopedic Surgery attending office hours. Educational activities
include the weekly Orthopedic Tumor Conference, Fracture Conference,
Didactic Conference, clinics and office hours, and the monthly Orthopedic
Grand Rounds (incorporating M&M).
