The Division of Nephrology of the Department of Medicine provides a broad range of nephrology services to inpatients and outpatients with a diverse group of acute and chronic renal diseases, metabolic disorders, electrolyte disturbances, diabetes, and hypertensive diseases. The Division provides acute and chronic hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis for patients in renal failure, CAVH for certain critically ill patients and renal biopsy for diagnosis of a variety of renal diseases. The Division stresses that prevention at an opportune time can prevent total permanent kidney shutdown leading to dialysis.
