Women and Heart Day � February 17
Often mistaken for a men�s� disease; heart disease will be the cause of death in one of three women, and more American women will die of heart disease than all cancers combined. Cardiologists at�Northwest Hospital Center and�Sinai Hospital�are experts in treating heart disease as well as educating women about their risks and how to live a healthy, fulfilling life.� Below are several tips to begin living heart healthy from the U.S. Office on Women�s Health:

  • Aim for a healthy weight. It�s important for a long, vigorous life. Being overweight and obesity cause many preventable deaths.
  • Get moving. Make a commitment to be more physically active. Aim for 30 minutes of moderate-intensity activity on most, preferable all, days of the week.
  • Eat for heart health. Choose a diet low in saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol and moderate in total fat.
