DESCRIPTION AND GOALS OF COURSE: |
The Pulmonary Elective offers a predominantly ambulatory experience in clinical Pulmonary Medicine. The student sees patients with the precepting attending physician. The student will also have limited exposure to in-patient consultations. Experience may be gained in performing thoracentesis and participation is encouraged during bronchoscopies. Instruction in the indications for and interpretation of pulmonary function testing is provided. Students on elective join the faculty at the pulmonary conferences offered at Sinai, and attend a weekly sarcoidosis clinic at Johns Hopkins Hospital. |
