Thank you again for your interest in the Childrens Hospital at Sinai Program in Pediatrics. Though all positions are presently filled, we are eagerly recruiting residents for the 2006-2007 academic year.
Applications are accepted through the Electronic Residency Applications Service (ERAS) Program . Our National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) numbers are the following:
Categorical Three-year Program: 1893150C0
ERAS Applications must include the following:
- CV
- Personal statement
- 3 letters of recommendation (written within the last
6 months)
- Dean's letter
- Transcripts
- Board scores 1, 2, & 3 if applicable.
The deadline for applications is December 31, 2005.
Though we only sponsor J-1 visas, we are pleased to accept applications from graduates of international as well as American schools. We do not use specific cutoffs for USMLE scores, but we do request Parts I and II as part of the application materials. In addition, all international graduates must have completed their ECFMG Certification, including the clinical examination. We evaluate all applications in their entirety, and feel that Board scores represent one component of the applicant's credentials. We have a very competitive program, and have had no unfilled positions for the past 7 years. The deadline for submission of application materials is December 31, 2005 for the 2006-2007 academic year, though we encourage earlier submissions to allow a more complete evaluation. Selected applicants will be invited for an interview, in which students will have the opportunity to meet with members of the faculty, tour the facilities, and visit with current residents.
Our residency program begins on June 23, 2006. The residency will end on June 22, 2009. Pediatric residency orientation will therefore begin on June 16, 2006 for incoming housestaff. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training will be offered on June 14 and 15, 2006. A prerequisite for PALS is Basic Life Support (BLS) training. PALS must be successfully completed prior to beginning a rotation at the Children's Hospital at Sinai. All residents must hold an "active" PALS card.
It is policy of the pediatric residency program, that the USMLE Step
3 exam, MUST be taken within the first residency year at Sinai Hospital of
Baltimore.
