Under limited supervision, provides guidance to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, patients and families for the appropriate utilization of drug therapy in specialty. This includes the application of pharmacokinetic and pharmacotherapeutic principles in drug therapy monitoring. Serves as a resource and a leader for various medication safety and performance improvement initiatives. Holds educational sessions for healthcare providers and attends multidisciplinary committees. Serves as a subject matter expert in the area of specialty.
Requirements: Doctor of Pharmacy, Pharmacy Residency and/or Fellowship in specialty. Three (3) years direct (at bedside) experience in specialty area where knowledge is applied toward pharmacotherapy, resulting in a measurable patient outcome. Registered pharmacist in the State of Maryland. Must be able to apply knowledge strategically toward pathway, protocol, and guideline building.
