Since 1899, The Levindale Auxiliary has been a vital service organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of the elderly and disabled at Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital and Jewish Convalescent & Nursing Home, a not-for-profit health care institution. The Auxiliary is committed to helping humanize institutional care. We go beyond the scope of the excellent medical care provided at Levindale and address the emotional, psychological and spiritual needs of the residents. We provide funding to promote companionship, cultural stimulation and mechanisms, which enable the elderly to maintain their dignity and pride.
Who We Are
The Levindale Auxiliary has 1,300 members from the community who support the mission of the Auxiliary through membership dues, Life Membership Program, contribution cards, and fundraising events. We support residents and clients of the following:
- Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital
- The Jewish Convalescent & Nursing Home
- Belvedere Adult Day Care Center
- Pikesville Adult Day Care Center.
What We Provide
The Auxiliary funds request, which range from a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars. Examples or our support:
- $100,000 gift to Levindale to help fund the Eden Alternative Program
- Transportable dental equipment for bedside services
- Funding for dental needs for the residents
- $25,000 gift to Levindale to help fun the “Companion Radio” Program
- Pianos and other equipment for special activities
- Mezuzahs on every door at Levindale & JC&NH
- Large print prayer books and large print Library
- Snowball machine for residents
- 55 gallon aquarium
- Trips to theaters, restaurants, sporting events,concerts,museums, etc.
How You Benefit
In addition to knowing that you’ve made a difference in the lives of frail, elderly and lonely people, members receive our newsletters and invitations to Fall and Spring Fundraisers. Members who want to become more involved in the Auxiliary are urged to call our office.
