The first ever braVo! event took place on October 25, 2006 at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The event involved a unique exhibition of handcrafted artwork using a womans bra as the canvas. More than 100 art bras were displayed and auctioned to the highest bidder. Over $60,000 was raised for the braVo! Financial Assistance Fund, which helps patients at the Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute of LifeBridge Health and the Herman & Walter Samuelson Breast Care Center at Northwest Hospital Center obtain supplemental services not covered by insurance, such as breast prosthesis, wigs, massage therapy, certain medications, and transportation to and from treatment.
This years braVo! event will take place October
30, 2007. For more information click here.

The Northwest Hospital Center is in the midst of its Renaissance Campaign. This $5 million capital campaign will support a $55 million expansion and renovation project currently underway at the hospital. LifeBridge Health (Northwests parent company) will be funding $50 million of the project cost.
Completed phases of the expansion project include the new Cancer and Infusion Therapy Center, which opened for patient care in March 2006, the Nuclear Medicine Department, phase one of the Inpatient Post Anesthesia Care Unit, and two inpatient units. Construction of a new 16 bed Intensive Care Unit will be completed in the spring of 2007.
The Expansion and renovation are slated to continue over the next few years and will include a new intermediate care unit, new operating rooms, a new location for the Herman & Walter Samuelson Breast Care Center, and an expanded Wound Care Center.
Renaissance Campaign co-chairs Howard Weiss and Michael Gaines announced that the hospital has raised $4.4 million to date. The campaign Steering Committee continues to work with hospital leadership to seek gifts from individuals, local businesses, churches, synagogues, and other organizations to help the hospital reach its $5 million goal.

The Childrens Hospital at
Sinai
Sinai Hospital enters a new, public phase of its fundraising capital campaign to expand The Childrens Hospital by announcing a $4 million donation from the Herman & Walter Samuelson Foundation. With this gift, Sinai has officially renamed The Childrens Hospital to The Herman & Walter Samuelson Childrens Hospital at Sinai. The $26 million vertical expansion will not only expand the square footage and redesign the facility itself, but also enhance all services provided to our pediatric patients and their families. In addition, the new inpatient unit will have all private rooms, each equipped with a sleep area for family members.
