Location and Parking
Northwest Hospital Center is located at 5401 Old Court Road, directly off Liberty Road (MD Route 26) and only minutes from I-695.  Free parking is available in the visitor’s lot across the street from the hospital on Carlson Lane.   The parking lot is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

To Enter the Hospital
Between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., patients and visitors may use one of the following entrances:  Main Entrance Outpatient Surgery Entrance, MRI Entrance, Education Center Entrance  and Emergency Entrance <link here>.  After 8 p.m., all visitors and patients must enter the hospital through the ER-7 entrance.

Visiting Hours and Guidelines
Visiting hours and guidelines vary and may differ for each patient.  The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has open visiting hours.  Family and friends are encouraged to wait in the solarium during the nursing shift changes at 7:45 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. 

All visitors should dress appropriately and wear shirts and shoes.  Smoking is not allowed in the hospital, only in designated areas outside the hospital.    Visitors from out of town may seek accommodations at one of the following nearby hotels:

Waiting Areas
Visitor solariums are located on each floor.  Additional waiting areas are located in the main hospital in the Outpatient Services Center, Emergency Department and Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Café
Located just off the main lobby, the newly remodeled Old Court Café features beverages, snacks and meals.  Breakfast is served from 6:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Lunch is served 12:30 to 2:15 p.m.  Dinner is served from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m.  In addition, vending machines are located near the cafeteria, and near the human resources office, which is located on the ground floor of the Hospital.

Pastoral Services
A nondenominational chapel, located off the main lobby, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  At a patient’s or family request, Northwest staff can notify a  pastor, priest or rabbi of a patient’s hospital stay.  Hospital clergy make pastoral care visits to patients of all denominations.  Pastoral care services, bibles or Sabbath candles can be obtained by calling the patient representative at 410-521-5547.

Gifts for Patients
A gift shop featuring clothing, jewelry, plants and other items is located on the first floor of the hospital.  Visitors should check with the unit nurse before bringing gifts of food or drink to patients, particularly those on the Intensive Care Unit.
