Under direct supervision, the Psychiatric Specialist assists in caring for psychiatric inpatients; assists and observes patients, provides general care and treatments, interacts with the patient and his family, and assists nursing staff. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Age groups served may include child through geriatric, but will vary depending on specific assignment. Works in partnership with other staff members and physicians; and pro-actively identifies and provides for the customers� needs using appropriate quality service standards identified in Hospital�s Customer Service Program.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years experience in care of psychiatric patients on an inpatient unit. Must possess the knowledge, skill, physical ability and mental capacity to perform the typical duties and responsibilities enumerated above or implicit therein. Must have current certification as Certified Nursing Assistant by the Maryland Board of Nursing. Must have completed CPR Heart Saver Plus or Community CPR course. Excellent customer service skills required.
