| After an exhaustive nationwide search Ellen Zerbst has been named the new Director of Rehabilitation Services at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.
Zerbst, a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist, comes to Sinai with an extensive background in the rehabilitation field. Most recently she was the Area Director of Operations for Genesis Rehabilitation Services based in Columbia, Maryland. Zerbst, who holds a Masters in Communications Disorders and Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology, has spent the past 25 years coordinating the financial
and operational management of a number of comprehensive rehabilitation services.
I�m looking forward to coordinating the various rehab departments throughout the LifeBridge Health system in order to provide our patients and the community access to the highest quality rehabilitation services available� said Zerbst. I�ll be working closely with our medical director, Scott Brown, M.D., to increase the overall recognition of the expertise of the physicians and therapist working within the Sinai Rehabilitation
Center.�
Zerbst and Brown will guide the numerous and varied comprehensive programs at the state�s longest operating privately run rehabilitation department. Among the outstanding and recognized services offered by the Sinai Rehabilitation Center are its Tramatic Brain Injury and Pain Management programs.
RECOVER!, RETORE! & RETURN!, is a three level brain injury program offered at the SRC in conjunction with Levindale Specialty Hospital. The RECOVER!
Coma Emergence Program, based at Levindale, helps patients recover from low-arousal/unresponsive state typically associated with a coma. The RESTORE! program helps patients recover from a traumatic brain injury or other acquired brain disorder. And the RETURN! Brain Injury Community Re-entry outpatient program offers a structured, consistent weekly schedule of group and individual activities developed to assist patients
in their return to work, school or other community re-entry goals.
Physiatrists in the Pain Management Program at the SRC are combining the latest in cutting edge technology with age-old proven treatments to help their patients manage or eliminate pain. One of the newest procedures is the use of diagnostic ultrasound. It gives the physiatrists a real time� image of the effected area of the patient which helps
give a more precise diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome, tendon tears and plantar faciitis.
