Eyelid and facial surgical techniques are more
sophisticated than ever. And at The Center for Advanced Aesthetic Eyelid and Facial Surgery
at the Krieger Eye Institute at Sinai, you know you can count on special care
for the delicate area around your eyes, from some of the area's most renowned
eye surgeons.
Eyelid surgery (or Blepharoplasty) is designed to improve drooping upper lids, 'bags' or sagging below the eyes, and puffy skin around the eyes. Aging and gravity are the most common causes of this condition. Others include a condition called ptosis (drooping lid), overexposure to the sun, and heredity. Eyelid surgery corrects these problems by removing excess skin and fat from the areas around the eye, including the upper and lower lids.
We take a special approach to eyelid surgery

Until now, eyelid surgery was generally performed by
making an incision in the skin around the eye, along the natural lines
of your lid. Now, there's a better approach. At The Center for Advanced Aesthetic
Eyelid and Facial Surgery at the Krieger Eye Institute at Sinai
Hospital, James Karesh,
M.D. and Marc Hirschbein,
M.D., have been using an advanced technique called transconjunctival surgery that minimizes bleeding, swelling and possible complications.
With this new surgical approach, a small incision is made behind the lid to remove excess tissue. So there's less trauma, and frequently no visible scarring. Most eyelid surgery is an outpatient procedure, using local anesthesia, and you can go home the same day.
What other cosmetic
procedures are performed here?
On many occasions, eyelid surgery is performed together with these other cosmetic procedures including facelifts, forehead lifts, cheeklifts, and botox injections and laser skin resurfacing.
Many insurance companies will not cover cosmetic
surgery, so patients are responsible for the cost of surgery. The Center for Advanced Aesthetic Eyelid and Facial Surgery at the Krieger Eye Institute at Sinai has an arrangement with Unicorn Financial Services to offer a low interest payment plan for your procedure.
