- Graduate of Approved/Certified Program
Under limited supervision, administers therapeutic gas, ventilatory support and various complex treatments and procedures, such as chest physio-therapy, intubation, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, etc., to patients in the intensive care units; provides respiratory evaluation, monitors treatment, documents data pertinent to patient care or condition, etc.; maintains inventory, equipment, etc., to ensure optimal operating efficiency. Requirements: Associate's degree in respiratory care, or graduation from a registered and approved School of Respiratory Care. RRT with exposure to adult, neonatal and pediatric critical care. Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Board of Physician Quality Assurance. Registered by the NBRC. Practitioners assigned to the NICU/PICU must complete the respiratory care training program provided by the Respiratory Care Department, or have successfully completed the National Board of Respiratory Care specialty examination in neonatal pediatric care. Must have completed CPR Healthcare Provider or CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification.
