The Multidisciplinary Center for Breast Health at Northwest Hospital utilizes a comprehensive approach to address total breast health, including an evaluation for benign breast disease, genetic counseling and advice regarding cancer treatment. This streamlines care and provides patients with a clear treatment focus and direction that they can understand.
Cristina Truica, M.D. is the medical director of the Multidisciplinary Center for Breast Health program. Building services and increasing awareness of breast cancer throughout the community is her primary focus.
Often, breast care can be fragmented, lengthy and filled with emotional stress. Truica strives to bring together all of the members of the breast care team to deliver care in a one-stop shop.
Truica joins Alan S. Davis, M.D., surgical director of the Breast Health program and associate chief of Surgery at Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown, who has been treating breast cancer patients for more than 20 years. As community awareness of breast disease has grown, so too has the need for education and treatment, according to Davis. Patients benefit from being able to come to the Breast Health program for an evaluation and then discuss individual treatment options with the multidisciplinary team
Leslee Gold, RN, Care Coordinator, manages the care of the patients and helps them coordinate the evaluations they need with other members of the treatment team including medical oncologists, surgeons and radiation oncologists to provide women with the most thorough, accurate and prompt care possible, all in one location.
Patients can be referred by their physician, or can be self-referred.
