Additional Information about Dr. Mont
Dr. Mont began his medical career at Johns Hopkins in 1989 and was confronted with many teenagers who had avascular necrosis, a bone disease that leads to joint destruction. Rather than performing total hip replacements in these young patients, he became dedicated to trying to save the joints by developing innovative new bone grafting techniques and other procedures.
Dr. Mont is an Associate Professor on the part-time staff at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institution, where he teaches and performs research. He has published more than 300 articles and book chapters on various aspects of joint reconstruction.
Dr. Mont is a world renowned expert on preserving joints in patients with avascular necrosis (the condition that Bo Jackson had). He performs the most difficult hip and knee replacements, including cases that are referred to him from around the country. In addition, the team is developing novel new procedures to save people from needing total joint replacements.
