The Levindale Respite Program is a short stay care program designed specifically to support the medical needs of those generally cared for at home, while also offering relief to family caregivers. The program allows your loved ones to stay for thirty days or less in our home at Levindale's Geriatric Center.
Personalized, Professional Care
The quality of our personal attention reflects Levindale's century-old tradition of care for the human body and spirit. Our resources include some of the area's most advanced technology in geriatric care. The program will enable the participant's own primary care physician to participate in his or her care. Support care and recreational programming are provided by a multi-disciplinary team of caring and experienced Levindale staff of nursing, social work, activities, and dietary services.
Respite care will be provided for thirty days or less and in full compliance with federal and state long-term care requirements. Levindale is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
Admission
Your loved one will initially be assessed by our professional staff, according to Levindale's nursing home admission criteria. In order to ensure that we provide your loved one with the highest standard of personalized and quality care during his or her stay, we will require the following information prior to their short-term admission:
- Primary care physician information
- Current doctor's written admission order
- A complete history and physical
- List of current medications
- Advance Directives, if available
Social Work intervention, beginning upon admission, offers guidance to families and facility staff regarding the plan of care during and after the participant's stay.
Meeting Needs
During your loved one's stay at Levindale, your family will be able to participate in a full array of recreational and educational activities that our residents enjoy throughout the year, including occasional outings to area plays, exhibits, or sporting events.
The spiritual needs of our guests will be addressed by our Chaplaincy Department. Contact our Chaplain at 410-601-2357 for further information. Social workers are also available to our residents for counseling and to assist them or their families with any concerns they may have.
Delicious meals are served according to the individual's dietary needs by Levindale's Dietary Department. The participant's family is also welcome to use the services of our coffee shop, vending area, or cafe.
