DESCRIPTION AND GOALS OF COURSE:

This elective in geriatric medicine provides the student with needs to evaluate older patients in a variety of care settings under the supervision of the Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital Center Medical Staff.
Students will be exposed to the management of patients across the care
continuum including chronic hospital, sub-acute care, long-term care and
daycare. They will be exposed to formal geriatric assessment in the
out-patient setting, and general geriatric medicine out-patient
care. House-calls may also be integrated into the rotation.
Students are encouraged to attend the weekly Hopkins Bayview Geriatric
Medicine conference. In addition to a faculty preceptor, they will work
with resident's from the Sinai Hospital Department of Medicine during this
rotation.
