The aim of the Pediatric Residency program at the Children's Hospital of Sinai is to promote the transformation of the resident into an accomplished pediatrician by providing the optimal environment for learning and overall personal and professional growth. The objectives of the residency-training program are met by providing the highest standards of medical care, by thoroughly preparing physicians for the challenges of general pediatric practice and by providing a strong foundation for further pediatric subspecialty training. Throughout the three-year residency, the curriculum offers progressive patient care responsibilities and promotes active participation in all the educational components of the program. The Sinai teaching philosophy is to provide education through close interactions with outstanding pediatric faculty.

Our graduates have consistently ranked among the top in the country for their American Board of Pediatrics Scores, and well above the national average. For any given year, approximately 50 percent of our graduates are placed in highly competitive fellowship programs of their choice, while approximately 50 percent accept jobs in primary care pediatrics.

As a community-based hospital teaching program, Sinai combines the intimate environment of a community hospital with the academic and research capabilities of a university hospital. With the support of both private and hospital-based full-time pediatric faculty, residents treat patients from a wide array of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
