Instead, the staff at the Lapidus Cancer Institute created a circle of care that puts the patient and his or her family at the center.
>
Patients and their families will find something very rare indeed: a program large enough to offer leading-edge care yet small enough to touch individual lives. Under one roof, a variety of service areas are assembled around a central and integrated diagnostic area. When a patient is admitted, doctors in various sub-specialties come together to diagnose and prescribe care.
>
Services include radiation oncology, pathology, urology, gynecologic oncology, hematology/medical oncology, orthopedic oncology, pediatric hematology/oncology, surgical oncology and oncology rehabilitation.
>
In addition, the Cancer Institute provides access to state-of-the-art treatments. The CyberKnife, which uses advanced tracking software to deliver treatment to previously inoperable tumors, and the therapy available off-campus at the LifeBridge Health Radiation Oncology Center in Owings Mills complete this circle of care. Support groups, informational Lunch and Learn sessions and image recovery consultations following treatment add an extra touch to ease the transition toward recovery.
