For the second year in a row, Sinai Hospital of Baltimore has been listed as one of the top heart hospitals in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual hospital ranking. Sinai is ranked 49th among hundreds of heart treatment centers in the country.

The Heart Center at Sinai offers one of the most comprehensive cardiac care centers in the region. Using advanced heart care methods, a highly equipped cardiac catheterization laboratory and an Emergency Chest Pain Evaluation Unit, the Heart Center allows physicians to diagnose and begin treatment at the earliest possible moment. Other services include a Coronary Care/Progressive Care Unit with 14 coronary care beds and 48 progressive care beds, including 12 Open Heart Step-Down beds.

Heart patients at Sinai are treated with a “Tender Touch.” Through its Tender Touch program, the Heart Center at Sinai offers patients special services to make their hospital stay as comfortable and stress free as possible. Patients traveling more than an hour for catheterization or open heart procedures receive a complimentary stay at the nearby Cross Keys Inn.

Other Tender Touch features include educational videos; in-room sleeping accommodations for a family member (if available); an American Heart Association low fat, low cholesterol cookbook; and a Heart Center T-shirt and a Heart Hugger pillow for bypass patients.

When prescribed, heart patients can progress through a cardiac rehabilitation program at The Institute for Cardiovascular Prevention, located at LifeBridge Health & Fitness. Cardiologists, cardiac rehabilitation specialists, nutritionists, exercise physiologists and behavioral psychologists evaluate patients and tailor cardiac rehabilitation programs to meet their needs.
