TITLE OF COURSE: 

Cardiology Elective

 
COURSE DIRECTOR:  Romulo Baltazar, M.D.

DESCRIPTION  AND GOALS OF COURSE:

A one month rotation during which students will observe and participate in the management of inpatient and outpatient cardiac diseases. Students will round in the CCU, attend outpatient clinics, observe in the cardiac Cath Lab, Stress Test Lab, operating room, and outpatient cardiac rehab. Strong emphasis is placed on evidence-based medicine. Faculty members will review both basic physiology and classic clinical trials in detail during the course of the elective. Students will gain confidence in interpreting EKGs and discussing basic echocardiograms.
