Hospital Based Research

The Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics’ (RIAO) Clinical Research Division is a hospital-based research team that provides 24/7 medical coverage and is able to access fully-serviced departments to support research efforts.

 

The division is located within Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, a 500+ bed institution located in Baltimore, Maryland.

About

Our experienced staff is well versed in U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, International Council for Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH) guidelines and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards. The clinical research team has a successful track record of managing and conducting clinical trials within an orthopedic setting.

 

The RIAO Clinical Research Division has conducted clinical trials (phases I through IV), inpatient and outpatient trials, extensive pharmacokinetic (PK) sampling and many other complex studies. The division has worked with a large, diverse patient population to research a myriad of indications such as:

  • Abnormal gait
  • Deformity correction
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Infection control
  • Limb lengthening
  • Limb salvage
  • Nonunions
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Osteomyelitis
  • Osteonecrosis
  • Perthes disease
  • Synthetic bone grafts
  • Total hip/knee arthroplasty
  • Venous leg ulcers

Research Fellowship Program

Research Fellows at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics will work with physicians who have earned a global reputation for their limb lengthening expertise and innovative techniques for joint preservation and replacement on multiple research studies. They will submit research articles to peer-reviewed medical journals.
